Music
I just tried to watch a video I posted on Facebook a while back and it told me that I could view it because of a copyright issue with WMG. So that struck a chord with me...... Why would they not want everyone to just enjoy their product? Watching a video takes no money from them? Its very selfish of them. I guess this is where it bleeds into a grey area for me. As an artist I want people to enjoy my music and support it. Supporting it is what keeps me making more music for fans to keep loving. Someone asked me how I felt about stealing music... again.... grey area. I do download songs from limewire without paying. I do download songs from iTunes. I do burn cd from friends and for friends. I do go out and buy cds. I think its a fair balance. but I dont feel bad for stealing music because, the music that I'm stealing isnt from the artist. The music that I am getting is from the greedy record companies. They are raking in the dough. Artists dont get their fair share of the profit. The big labels are just running away with a pot of gold. Not to justify stealing though. I admit stealing is wrong. But I will also admit that I dont feel bad in the least bit about doing it from bigger music companies. I would rather someone steal my cd (www.wearecompanion.com) and come to a show and sing every word than I would them not want to pay 12.99 and never hear my music. Am I making sense? The best way for someone to support me and my music is to come to a show and give me cash for a cd a shirt or whatever. Please feel free to discuss this issue with me because I do not claim to be 100% right or have all the answers. I am human and any other point of views are welcome.
